Wovon Matthew Miller beeindruckt ist

Matthew Miller hat bei ZD Net einen ersten Erfahrungsbericht von Android 2.2 und der Beta des Flash Player 10.1 geschrieben. Er zeigt sich „quite impressed“, schließlich ist es ihm tatsächlich gelungen, ein paar Flash-Spielchen auf  dem Nexus One zu spielen. Aber wenn man diese Randbemerkungen liest –

started up, but then stalled out … which played well for several minutes before the voice got out of sync with the video … I was able to play some games, but on some the controls are not able to be manipulated with the Nexus One touchscreen … but most struggled or were not optimized for the mobile device

– dann kann man schon auf die Idee kommen, dass Steve Jobs’ Thoughts on Flash vielleicht doch nicht so ganz verkehrt sind.

Kein Wort verliert Miller über die Batterielebensdauer und die Wärmeentwicklung. Aber das liest man bei Engadget:

the pre-release beta we have, according to Adobe, lacks hardware acceleration. Ergo, our beloved handset got piping hot after about 30 minutes of heavy video watching, and the battery indicator in the upper right had a sizable dent.

Obendrein ruiniert Flash den ansonsten wohl exzellenten Browser von Android 2.2:

Flash elements lead to stuttering while scrolling and zooming on webpages with Flash content, and even resulted in a low memory warning requiring the tester to actively manage the currently open applications on the test device.

Warten wir also mal ab, wann Flash auf einer mobilen Plattform tatsächlich so funktioniert, wie von Adobe besprochen. Schließlich wäre eine 1a-Flash-Implementation die einzig überzeugende Antwort auf Jobs’ Vorwürfe.
